Volunteer Put Forward for Award
Alan Dinsdale has been nominated for the York Communiyt Pride Volunteer of the Year Award
Alan Dinsdale has been nominated by Peter Brown, Director of Fairfax House for the York Community Pride Volunteer of the Year Award.
Peter has put Alan forward for this special accoldate because he 'enriches' the experiecne of visitors when they come to explore the Georgian townhouse in York. He said: "Alan is hughely knowledgeable and very good at sharing his knowledge with the visitors. You only have to look at the visitors book to see how much they appreciate him.
Alan,74, was said to be completely surprised to have been nominated. He commented: "It's nice to think that someone thinks I'm worthy enough for my name to go forward.
"I hated history at school and its only since I've retired that I've really got into it."
Peter Brown added that Fairfax House has in the region of 180 volunteers from York and the surrounding areas whose support vital to the success of the Museum.
These awards have been created by the City of York Council and The Press in York. The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony in October.
