The Architecture of Micklegate
Architectural historian, Alison Sinclair, has kindly agreed to provide members with an ‘in-depth’ tour of one of York’s most famous streets.
The buildings of Micklegate provide a potted history of English architecture from medieval times to the modern. The intention of today’s walk will be to trace that history and to reveal some of the secrets which lie concealed behind modernised street fronts of whatever age. All is not always what it seems! It is hoped to arrange access into one or two buildings in the course of the walk.
