Religious faith motivated some of the most significant events and developments in Georgian Britain. The tensions between Catholic and Protestant had shaped much of the country’s history since the sixteenth century, and the Glorious Revolution and Jacobite rebellion saw these divisions come to the fore of national politics once again.
