York is fortunate to enjoy the Assembly Rooms and to have built a world first grandstand at York Racecourse. You will have also seen the House is now displaying an autographed letter by Charles Gregory Fairfax\, 9th Viscount of Emley\, dated 21st November 1763\, written from York. Lottie is dedicated to researching and sharing the history of dancing\, etiquette and society in order to preserve this important piece of social history for future generations. She will tell us about the importance of the Season at that time and York’s place in that\, as well as how dance was an integral part of society. \nThis event is part of the Friends of Fairfax House’s Event Programme. \nYou may be asked to provide proof of membership if you book a member’s ticket.
